The Panaji District and Sessions Court on Monday granted ex-parte interim bail to former Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat in connection with the 2013 mining scam case.
The court ordered to release him after furnishing a bail bond of Rs one lakh.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had last week issued another summon to Kamat in the case.
Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Priyanka Kashyap says that Kamat was asked to report before the investigation officer on Monday.
In July 2013, a complaint was filed by the Mines and Geology Department seeking to fix criminal liability on those involved in the illegal mining case.
Earlier, a report of Justice (Retd.) M.B. Shah Commission had stated that illegal mining of approximately Rs. 35,000 crore took place in Goa from 2005 to 2012, when the apex court banned iron ore extraction in the state.
