Top seeded women's doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis suffered a shocking semi-final defeat against unseeded pair of Hao-Ching Chan and Yung-Jan Chan at the Cincinnati Masters.

The Indo-Swiss duo of Sania and Martina endured a 4-6, 6-0, 6-10 defeat against the Chinese Taipei pair in the last four stage of the hard-court tournament.

Although the top seeded pair staged a strong fightback to secure the second set, Ching Chan and Jan Chan finally triumphed over their opponents in the Western and Southern Open.

Earlier this year, the Indo-Swiss duo had lifted the women's doubles title at Wimbledon.
