Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah-ul Haq has promised that their would be no relenting from his side towards New Zealand, who were thrashed by the hosts in the opening Test in Abu Dhabi.

Haq represents everything good about Pakistan cricket and everything that hapless New Zealand must aspire to be in Monday's rematch after being routed in the opening cricket test.

Haq oversaw the 248-run demolition in Abu Dhabi yesterday to surpass Pakistan legends Imran Khan and Javed Miandad as Pakistan's most successful Test captain with 15 victories, Stuff.co.nz reported.

It was a personal triumph for Haq who picked up the Pakistan reins after a spot-fixing scandal resulted in bans on then Test captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer.

The 40-year-old has also found some vintage form in the twilight of his career, smashing three successive centuries after a dismal tour of Sri Lanka earlier in the year.

He said, in light of New Zealand's defeat, that it is a great feeling to be part of the winning team, adding that it's a young team, nobody expected Pakistan to perform like this.

He said that the important thing is to never lose hope, especially as an individual. He also promised there would be no relenting from Pakistan as they look to claim the three-Test series in the second test in Dubai.

The skipper said that the way the youngsters have bowled, everyone has the belief that Pakistan can claim the series. He added that he doesn't want to give up their good work, because it can change very quickly, and they have to focus on the basics and keep doing them right.
