In a shocking incident, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Mumbai Police shot dead a senior Police Inspector on Saturday at the Vakola Police Station, before killing himself.
Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who visited the spot after the incident, said the senior Police Inspector remains in a serious condition.
"The senior Police Inspector's condition is serious. His operator too was shot in the thigh, but he is out of danger. The ASI is no more," said Maria.
"In the evening, the accused deceased ASI came and argued with senior Police Inspector as regards his absenteeism last night. As soon as the senior Police Inspector left the chamber, the ASI opened fire from his 9 mm pistol," he added.
He added that the matter had been handed over to the crime branch for investigation.
