Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sujata Mehta has expressed disappointment over the European Union's (EU) muted response on the Uri terror attack of September 18 in which 19 Indian soldiers was killed.
"I would like to express some disappointment at the relatively muted response of the EU to the Uri attack on September 18," Mehta said while delivering a keynote addressing on India-EU Cooperation in Security and Global Governance Domains here.
Mehta said India has been a victim of terrorism from across the border and added that it is the most significant threats to the security of the nation, and therefore deserves greater attention.
"EU too has called for the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to be brought to justice, and again, as India does, the EU is in favor of decisive and united action against groups and entities ranging from ISIS, Al-Qaeda and its affiliates and Lashkar-e-Tayibba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, and the Haqqani Network," she said.
Mehta also stressed on scaling up the cooperation with the EU in the field of counter terrorism and asserted that the challenges faced due to cyber-terrorism, has shown a drastic increase over the past few years.
She also discussed climate change issues and expressed India's desire to work together with EU on the issue.
