The North Korean government decided to deport an American citizen, who was detained for illegally entering the communist country, its state media said on Friday.
According to Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the US citizen, identified as Bruce Byron Lowrance, was detained, as he trespassed the North Korea-China border last month, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The KCNA also said that the citizen confessed to entering North Korea under the orders of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). However, the report did not mention when he would be deported.
Earlier in May, North Korea had released three American detainees ahead of the unprecedented meeting between its leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump in Singapore.
