Spanish ace Rafael Nadal has powered into the US Open semi-finals in New York by defeating fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo for the loss of just four games.
According to the BBC, the second-seeded 2010 champion won 6-0 6-2 6-2 on Arthur Ashe Stadium against Robredo, who knocked out Swiss maestro Roger Federer in the previous round.
The report further said that Nadal would go on to face Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the semi-finals after Gasquet beat David Ferrer in five sets in the quarter-finals.
A dipping backhand caught out Robredo at the net to earn Nadal the decisive break in game five of the third, and Nadal reeled off the last five to reach his fifth US Open semi-final, the report added.
