Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu had assured the Centre's complete support to the party, without any political divide, for the development of Delhi.

"We requested for Centre's assistance in prime issues regarding development of Delhi. He assured us Centre will extend its full support for development of Delhi, without any political divide," Sisodia said after meeting Naidu.

"We requested for Centre's assistance in carrying forward work of regularization of unauthorized colonies, full statehood for Delhi," he added.

Sisodia's statement came after he met Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu along with Delhi's Chief Minister designate Arvind Kejriwal here at Nirman Bhawan.

The AAP chief is also likely to meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and President Pranab Mukherjee later in the day.

Kejriwal, whose Aam Aadmi Party made a clean sweep of the Delhi assembly polls, winning 67 of the 70 seats on offer, was unanimously elected as the leader of the legislative party yesterday.

He yesterday met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung at the latter's official residence and conveyed the news.

Jung will now send the report regarding the matter to President Pranab Mukherjee, allowing Kejriwal to stake claim towards government formation in the national capital.

The swearing-in ceremony for Kejriwal will be held on February 14 at the Ramlila Maidan.
