NCP condemns UP Governor for his comment on Ram temple

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary D P Tripathi on Friday lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik for his comment on Ram temple.

"Being at a post of a Governor, Ram Naik shouldn't have said such a thing," said Tripathi.

Taking a jibe at the recent controversial statements made by other two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Sakshi Maharaj, Tripathi added that all these statements are incorrect and against the culture of the parliament.

The Uttar Pradesh Governor had earlier said that a Ram temple should be built in Ayodhya soon as 'it is the wish of Indian citizens'.

However, BJP's Vinay Katiyar said that everyone from the Governor to the President should be saying that Ram Mandir should be constructed soon.

"Ram Mandir has already been made, every citizen of this country should have a feeling that a magnificent temple should be built there," Katiyar.

Eighty-year-old Naik's comment comes at a time when a united opposition is attacking the BJP-led government at the Centre over the recent religious conversions row in Agra.

Earlier, Sakshi Maharaj had fueled criticism for his Godse a patriot' remark and previously Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti had used abusive words to urge voters to choose between candidates, while addressing voters in west Delhi's Shyam Nagar.

However, after much chaos both the leaders later apologised for their statements.
