NCW member Shamina Shafiq calls alleged sexual harassment of Gwalior additional judge 'horrifying'

National Commission for Women (NCW) member Shamina Shafiq has called the sexual harassment incident involving a Gwalior additional judge as horrifying.

Shafiq said, "It's actually horrifying that a woman, sitting in a high position, who herself has headed a sexual harassment committee, is subjected to such kind of dishonour."

She added, "This is something very serious, and it again shows us the real picture of the mentality of men in the country, I wouldn't say all, but some of them who try to take undue advantage of the position they hold."

According to her, if a woman holding such high position can be subjected to such dishonour, then one cannot imagine the plight of a woman who is working in small public space or office space.

"Again, this is something serious. One needs to ponder upon it and come out with justice as early as possible", said Shafiq.

Her comments were made in the backdrop of an accusation of a sexual harassment filed against a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge by an additional sessions judge.
