The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jharkhand Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national, alleged to be a member of the banned terror group - Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), for his role in a bomb blast case in Burdwan.
Tarikul Islam alias Sadiq was arrested in Jharkhand's Ramgarh District.
Islam is alleged to be an important member of the 'Shoora', or the decision-making body of JMB.
The NIA has already charge sheeted him for his role in the Burdwan blast which occurred in a house on October 2 last year, leaving two persons dead.
During the investigation of the case, the NIA claimed that Islam was part of a larger conspiracy of the JMB to organise terror attacks in Bangladesh and India.
He was also known to have frequently entered India illegally between 2008-2009 and to have obtained false Indian identity documents.
The NIA took over the case from West Bengal Police a few days after the explosion when international links started surfacing.
