The rise of diseases linked to modern lifestyle has also led to the search for new ways of handling these challenges.

Japan has taken the lead by launching a device for women to measure their body temperature, which tells a lot about their health, body rhythm and gynecological illness.

In Japan, a survey among 50 female workers in the age group of 20 and 30 revealed that just 10 per cent measure their body temperature regularly.

To reverse this trend, two enterprises - Toshiba and Rakuten - have developed a smart phone based application service with easy connected thermometer.

It is fitted with a microprocessor, which not only measures the body temperature, but also sends the information directly to a smart phone with just the push of a button.

It easily detects small changes in basic body temperature and keeps a health check on pregnancy.

"Simply selling thermometers might not be the right way. Working together with a data service company and creating this kind of new technology will surely bring many benefits to everyone," said Miyamoto Koji," a representative of Toshiba.

High blood pressure is also one of the fallouts of modern day living and causes life threatening diseases like strokes, renal and heart diseases.

Omron, one of the leading companies in the field of healthcare, has come out with revolutionary equipment to control high blood pressure in patients in Asia.

Patient can get precise diagnosis from the doctor based on data. Already 1,500 hospitals and clinics are using it in Japan.

"A 96-year-old lady user says that the blood pressure monitor is very easy to operate. It feels like the doctor sitting beside her. We will start the presentation in China this June. We are planning to spread our new service to Asian market," said Kohno Seiji, a representative of Omron Co. Ltd.

The new advances will benefit people across the world.
