Nepal's caretaker Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Saturday said his party, the Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) will not join the new government likely to be formed under the leadership of Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist Centre (CPN-MC) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Oli told Dahal, who visited him in his residence in Baluwatar that his party could not join the government to be formed in coalition with the Nepali Congress, as it had earlier refused to join the UML-led government, reports the Himalayan Times.

"The Nepali Congress has been making its view public in the Parliament as well at other public forums that the Congress and the UML should not be in the government together," Oli's press advisor Pramod Dahal quoted Oli as saying.

He added that Oli's told Dahal, if Nepali Congress is ready for national consensus, it should publicly clarify its position first.

During the meeting, Oli also expressed his dissatisfaction over the understanding reached between NC and Maoist Centre to hold local body elections by mid-April next year, for which his party was not consulted.

Oli, however, maintained that major political parties should come together on issues of national interest.
