Reacting to the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that Indian soldiers are capable enough to counter such violations efficiently in case it happens again.
"If these violations do not stop, our soldiers are capable enough to counter these violations efficiently," said Jaitley.
He further said that he was planning on meeting the troops and talking to other people involved in the security of the state on his two-day visit to the state.
"I will be meeting the state government here, and I will also talk to the people involved in the security of the state. Then I will be meeting the troops," he said.
Earlier today, Jaitley visited Raj Bhavan in Srinagar; a day after the ceasefire violations was reported along the Line of Control.
Jaitley will be reviewing the security situation with the state government and senior military officials on his visit to the state.
This will be his first visit to the state since assuming charge as the defence minister last month.
Yesterday, Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire by targeting Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir with heavy firing, drawing retaliation by Indian forces.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later questioned the timing of the violation of ceasefire, as it had happened at a time when the Defence Minister was about to visit the state and called it a matter of speculation.
