England spinner Monty Panesar has said that he has 'no idea' as to whom retired off-spinner Graeme Swann was referring to when he spoke of players 'having no idea how far up their own backsides they are'.

Panesar, who was immediately recalled to the England Test team playing in the Ashes, is facing the prospect of a prolonged run in the side now that Swann has called it a day.

According to The Guardian, Panesar said that he has no clue as to whom Swann was referring, the England or the Australian team, when he made the comment, adding that Swann's former teammates are all behind him as he has been an iconic character and a match winner and would be remembered as one of the greats.

Panesar further said that they all loved Swann as he is a 'great character', adding that Swann is among the elite class of cricketers like the legendary Richie Benaud, with his 255 wickets.

Meanwhile, Panesar also said that he did not take playing for England for granted - especially given that England have called up Scott Borthwick and James Tredwell - and that he had been handed an opportunity, which he had to grab, and he admitted that improvements needed to made to his game.
