Patty Jenkins 'extremely distressed' over allegations on Brett Ratner

'Wonder Woman' helmer Patty Jenkins has finally spoken out about the allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Ratner.

Calling the allegations "terrible" in a statement posted on Twitter, she wrote, "When I spoke of Brett, I spoke of my own experiences with him, which were not these at all. I have never witnessed nor been aware of anything that is now being described."

Jenkins was referring to an appearance she made on Sunday night at the Jewish National Fund dinner in Los Angeles, which was closed for the press, during which she presented Ratner with the 'Tree of Life' Award for his philanthropic work in Israel.

In her post, the Oscar-nominated director continued, "I have never witnessed neither have been aware of anything that is now being described. To be very clear, I am definitely not okay with this kind of behaviour. Sexual harassment and assault are NEVER okay and I stand with and defend all of the men and women who are revealing these horrific encounters all over this industry and the world."

Though she had not personally experienced misconduct from Ratner, Jenkins emphasised she believed in the women who spoke out.

"I hope their disclosures bring about real change for all of us, and I am deeply grateful to them for their bravery," concluded Jenkins.

In her remarks, Jenkins recalled how Ratner fully funded her thesis film many years ago, despite not knowing her well.

Ratner has been accused of misconduct by six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, according to a report in a leading U.S. daily.

Ratner denied the claims through his attorney, Martin Singer, and said, "I have represented Mr. Ratner for two decades, and no woman has ever made a claim against him for sexual misconduct or sexual harassment. Furthermore, no woman has ever requested or received any financial settlement from my client.
