Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) boss Shaharyar Khan has rejected claims that banned pace bowler Mohammad Amir is being fast-tracked back into international cricket, stating that the tainted bowler will be monitored on and off the field before he makes a comeback into the national squad.

Earlier in the week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had decided to allow the banned bowler to play in domestic matches under the auspices of the PCB with immediate effect.

Reflecting on the matter, PCB chief Shaharyar Khan stated that some people believe that they had fast-tracked his return, adding that Amir would be constantly monitored on and off the field in the period before his ban expires and even after that, the Dawn reported.

Khan added that Amir would have to satisfy the PCB and the ACSU (the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit) before getting into international cricket.

Amir was handed a five year ban for his involvement in the infamous spot fixing scandal in a Test against England at Lord's in 2010.

Amir's five-year ban is scheduled to expire on September 2 this year.
