PCB claims not turning to Wasim Akram for help during CWC over him being busy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to bank on 'busy' former pace bowling icon Wasim Akram for help during the ongoing World Cup.

It was reportedly revealed that the PCB avoid contacting Akram though the latter had expressed his desire to lend a helping hand to the Pakistan team, which has struggled to find pace in the ongoing tournament having lost both of its matches in the current World Cup.

An anonymous PCB official said that the board listens to Akram's statement seriously as it considers advice from all former cricketers, but added that after a thorough discussion, it was decided that the former Test skipper should not be asked for help as he is busy in his role as a broadcaster, The Dawn reported.

In a recent statement, Akram had slammed the PCB, claiming that no one from the board had asked him for help though he wanted to help the Pakistan squad.

The official further said that the PCB also avoided Akram because he was too involved in Indian cricket and was also coaching an IPL team.

Former PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, who had included Akram in the coaches finding committee, had also involved the retired all-rounder in the board's affairs, the report added.
