The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly replied to the request of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over South African batsman Faf Du Plessis escaping with a light punishment in the ball tampering case, in a letter.
PCB acting chief Najam Sethi sought clarification from the ICC on the 'inconsistency' in application of the ball-tampering rule as Du Plessis received just a fine of 50 percent of his match fee.
According to the Daily Times, ICC confirmed that a detailed reply to the PCB's query had been sent, although it refused to disclose the content of the letter given the confidentiality of correspondences between the ICC and its members.
The PCB's letter questioned the ICC over its alleged duplicity in punishments given to Pakistan player Shahid Afridi and Du Plessis, the report added.
