Peace process concluding soon after 10 years: Nepal PM Dahal

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that country's 10-year-old peace process would be finishing soon.

"There is no more armed conflict in the nation as yesterday. But, we are yet to address sentiments and issues of all," The Himalayan times quoted Dahal as saying.

He was addressing the International Peace Conference on Wednesday.

The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist-Centre) chairman termed the peace process as of the few original and successful models in the world.

"If some other developed countries had the peace process and the Comprehensive Peace Accord like in Nepal, it would have created a different level of buzz at an international level, drawing attention of the mass across the globe," said Dahal.

A press statement issued by the PM's Secretariat said, "I feel that the peace process and the agreement signed between the Government of Nepal and the then Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist might have gained less popularity at an international level because it was the matter of concern of a developing country like Nepal," a press statement issued by the PM's Secretariat stated.

During the function organised on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Accord, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home affairs Bimalendra Nidhi, CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal , Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur and human rights activists discussed about the role of late Girija Prasad Koirala and Dahal in the peace process.
