South African all-rounder Vernon Philander has reportedly been recalled to his side's ODI squad after an absence of a year-and-a-half from the format.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has reportedly announced their ODI and Test squads on Tuesday for the upcoming series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, starting on October 14.
According to Sport24, although the Test side remained unchanged, Philander was the notable inclusion in the 50-over one-day side, with coach Russell Domingo saying that he hoped that Philander, who is also known for his consistency, would be up to the task in the limited overs game.
Domingo also said that Philander's strengths in Test cricket are his line and length, although he added that he would have to find more variation in the one day game.
According to Domingo, he always judges a player's skill on how he is able to learn new things, adding that Philander has an 'unbelievable desire' to do well.
