The murder trial of Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius has reportedly been postponed to April 7 due to one of the court assessors being ill.
It was earlier speculated that Pistorius, who is accused of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria townhouse on Valentine's Day last year, would testify in his own defence in the fourth week of his trial.
According to News24, the judge of the case at the North Gauteng High Court started proceedings on Friday by stating that the court was not properly constituted and suggested that the matter be postponed to April 7, which would have been recess week.
The report mentioned that both the prosecution and defence agreed to the judge's decision.
Pistorius has been charged with the murder of Steenkamp and contraventions of the Firearms Control Act as he allegedly fired a shot at a Johannesburg restaurant in January 2013 and also allegedly shot through the open sunroof of a car while driving with friends on September 30, 2013, the report added.
