Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have announced the granting of full statehood for Delhi during today's 'Abhinandan Rally' at Ramlila Grounds.

"Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) promise to grant full statehood for Delhi, a promise that has been mentioned in the party's manifesto quite a number of times. The Prime Minister could have announced it today, if he wanted, he could have passed an ordinance on it," he said.

The AAP leader further said, "There was no indication by the Prime Minister that there would be reduction in the electricity bills in Delhi, and it is clear that if the BJP comes to power in Delhi, then there won't be any scope in reduction of the electricity bills."

"Regarding the slums and the unauthorised colonies, there was a clear message for the slum dwellers that they have to wait till 2022. Even the Prime Minister was silent about the steps that need to be taken for the authorisation of the unauthorised colonies," he added.

Yadav also said that it was Gandhi who called himself an anarchist, because he wanted British rule over India to end.

"The Prime Minister has asked that have you ever heard such a leader's name who calls himself an anarchist. I want to say Yes, there was a leader from Gujarat whose name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi," he said.
