Union Coal, Power and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday assured the people of Delhi of lower electricity bills and continuous supply of power, while outlining many initiatives of the government towards improving the power situation in the national capital.
"I assure people of Delhi continuous availability of affordable electricity. The Central Government is aware of the anger that people of Delhi have due to high electricity bills. A provision was made in the budget to give Rs. 1.20 subsidy on small consumers consuming below 200 units of electricity and 80 paisa subsidy to consumers consuming up to 400 units of electricity," Goyal said while speaking at the BJP's rally at Ramlila Maidan here.
"5 lakh street lights in Delhi will be replaced by LED lights in one year, which will save Rs. 150 crores for the city. We will make LED bulbs for homes available at Rs. 10 per bulb.
Meanwhile, Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh speaking at the same rally said the BJP is a party based truly on democratic ideals.
"If an ordinary party worker like me gets an opportunity to speak from the same stage from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address, it is because of the democratic values of the Bharatiya Janata Party. BJP is party which truly practices democracy," Singh said.
The BJP, which has been out of power in Delhi for the past 16 years, is confident of winning the polls with a clear majority this time with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charisma.
