Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday handed over the Bangladesh Liberation War Honour to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee's family members here.
Prime Minister Modi had received the honour on Vajpayee's behalf from Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid during his recent visit to the country.
The Prime Minister had, while receiving the award, said that it was a matter of pride for the people of India that Vajpayee was being honoured for his contribution to the 1971 Liberation War.
Vajpayee as the Foreign Minister and Prime Minister had given great emphasis on strong ties with Dhaka and visited Bangladesh in 1999.
