PM Modi meets dignitaries from South Africa, Mauritius

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met South Africa Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and Mauritius Vice Premier Showkutally Soodhun in two separate meetings.

Meeting at the backdrop of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Prime Minister Modi, in his discussions with both leaders, talked of increasing cooperation in trade, along with other areas mutually beneficial to their respective nations.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin took to twitter to share the discussions by the Prime Minister with the two visiting dignitaries.

"India-South Africa need to engage more economically-PM @narendramodi to Foreign Minister Mashabane #PBD2015," he posted.

"India-Mauritius discuss cooperation in Ocean economy.VicePremier Showkutally Soodhun meets PM @narendramodi #PBD2015," he added.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi launched the 'Dandi Kutir', a unique exhibition depicting various stages of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi's life and work.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has already been addressed by several cabinet ministers, including Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Minister of State for Overseas Indian Affairs General (Retired) V.K. Singh.

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman awards tomorrow.
