The Congress Party on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must listen to the people of the country instead of delivering his 'Mann Ki Baat'.

"The Prime Minister can do his 'Mann Ki Baat' with his ministers, the BJP and his advisors, but he must listen to 'dil ki baat' of the awaam [citizens]. It is important that he listens to the people of India," Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan told ANI.

"His bhaashans (speeches) have a timeline. He is a good orator, but election times are over. There must be delivery, if delivery does not come in then nobody is interested in his 'Mann Ki Baat'," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation in the eighth edition of the 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio (AIR) today.

In 'Mann ki Baat', the Prime Minister shares his thoughts with the nation. The programme aims to deliver the Prime Minister's voice to the general masses of the country since television connection is still not available everywhere, especially in the rural regions of remote locations.

The first edition of the programme was aired on October 3, 2014.

The programme has generated an encouraging response from citizens across the country. It is simultaneously broadcast live on all channels of All India Radio and Doordarshan.
