Hours after Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan took to social media to reveal that his father has been diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma and will undergo surgery for the health issue on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Rakesh Roshan a speedy recovery.
PM Modi took to his Twitter handle to share wishes for the veteran director's good health and also called him a "fighter" who will face the challenge with "utmost courage".
"Dear Hrithik, praying for the good health of Shri Rakesh Roshan Ji. He is a fighter and I am sure he will face this challenge with utmost courage," PM Modi tweeted.
Replying to Modi, Hrithik thanked him for his prayers and wished and also shared that his father's surgery went well. "Thank you Sir for your concern and good wishes. I am very happy to inform that according to the doctors his surgery has gone off well," he tweeted.
Earlier in the day, Hrithik shared an adorable picture with his father where he can be seen standing next to him in a gym alongside a caption revealing that the senior Roshan will undergo surgery.
"Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him," Hrithik captioned the picture.
Among the several wishes on Hrithik's post, one was from his ex-wife Sussanne Khan, praying for the veteran director's speedy recovery. Commenting on the post, she wrote, "He is stronger than any superhero all will go smoothly."
Many other celebrities including Abhishek Bachchan, Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Kapoor, Darshan Kumar, Nandish Sandhu, Dabboo Ratnani and Vishal Dadlani, also commented on Junior Roshan's post sending prayers for the veteran director's recovery.
