Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday led the nation in offering prayers and celebration the festival of Eid-ul-Azha with religious fervour and enthusiasm to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim.
Special prayers were offered at mosques for the peace, progress and the well being of the Muslim Ummah and Pakistan.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif offered Eid prayers at the Jati Umra in Lahore.
In Islamabad, the main Eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque. In Lahore, it was was held at Badshahi Masjid.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri led an Eid prayer at Parade Avenue in Islamabad.
After offering Eid prayers, the faithful will sacrifice animals, the Dawn reports.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has left for North Waziristan to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with troops taking part in the Zarb-i-Azb operation.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made across the country to prevent untoward incidents.
