Policy paralysis should end, citizens should have access to basic necessities: Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today addressed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at the Constitution Club in New Delhi to discuss the Delhi budget 2014.

Along with the BJP leaders, representatives of Resident Welfare Association (RWA) were also present at the program.

During the program, Jaitley threw light on the issues concerning Delhi and the economic setback hampering country's growth from past few years under the previously ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

"The main issue is that the residents of Delhi should get basic necessities of food, water, electricity, transport, etc at an affordable price," said Jaitley.

"The current government's strategy to develop this country is very different from that of the previous one. The circumstances under which we came into power were not very stable in terms of country's economy and administration," he added.

Jailtey also said that there has been a kind of policy paralysis in India, from past few years, the people have lost trust in the economy and the investors not only from outside but from within the country as well hesitate in investing.

Highlighting more problems he said, "The decision making process had stopped in past four to five years, the direction in which the decision needs to be taken was questioned. Due to corruption some areas of the economy were suffering a major setback and the growth rate had also declined."

He added that the government has the capability of taking decisions and all the party leaders as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are working to improve the condition of the country so as to provide best possible results.

Meanwhile, RWA members in Dwarka staged a protest amid Jaitley's program criticising the government over lack of water and electricity supply.
