Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan on Thursday said he did not agree with his father and party patriarch Shanti Bhushan's assessment of Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi.

"He's a senior member, he can express his views, but I do not agree with Shantiji's assessment," Prashant Bhushan told ANI.

He added that Kiran Bedi had been against any involvement in electoral politics, but has now joined a 'communal and obscurantist' party.

"When we formed AAP, Kiran Bedi ji clearly said we shouldn't get involved in electoral politics. Now Kiranji has joined a party which is not merely communal, but it is also an obscurantist party," added the senior advocate.

Meanwhile, Congress leader J P Agarwal wondered whether Shanti Bhushan, via his praise for Bedi, was indirectly pointing towards the BJP being deficient in leaders.

"This is a new find that he has had while being in the AAP that Kiran Bedi is very good. Or perhaps by specifically pointing out Bedi he is saying that everyone else is bad. Are there no honest politicians in the BJP? Can nobody be trusted to work?" he said.

Earlier today, Shanti Bhushan hailed Bedi for her contribution in the 'India Against Corruption' movement, and said she would provide a very clean and efficient administration in Delhi.

He added that all was not well within the AAP and even stated that the party should be happy if the former IPS officer becomes the Chief Minister of Delhi.
