President meets officer trainees of Indian Information Service

A group of Officer Trainees of Indian Information Service (IIS), of 2011, 2012 and 2013 batches called on the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

While speaking on the occasion, the President stated that, "knowledge is power and information is the basis of knowledge."

He stated that, "IIS officers serve as a crucial link between the people and the government through disseminating information on Government policies and programmes to the people."

He said that, "in this age when there is uninterrupted flow of information, IIS officers should analyse and critically appraise information before it reaches the policy makers so that it can serve as an important ingredient of policy formation.

"That the pace of change in the field of information technology and social media is mind-boggling. Therefore, the officers would need to continuously upgrade their skills in order to match with the revolutionary changes in technology so as to best use them in the service of the Nation," he added.
