Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday assured that the radioactive leak detected at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital has been plugged.

"People from the administration and a team from atomic energy have reached there. NDRF team has also reached. I have received an information that the leakage has stopped," Singh said at a press

briefing here.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju added that there is no reason to panic over the issue.

"NDRF team is there. The leaked matter is under control and there is no reason to panic," said Rijiju.

As per reports, the consignment of sodium iodine (which is used in cancer treatment) from Turkey meant for a private hospital, had leaked in a small area of the cargo hold and was quickly isolated.

The plane in which the consignment arrived at the IGI airport has also been isolated while two people who handled the consignment have been sent to AIIMS, add reports.
