Raj Thackeray declares to contest Maharashtra Assembly polls

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday made a major announcement by declaring his intention to contest in the Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year.

He also said that if his party (MNS) wins the Assembly polls then he will become the chief minister.

It is a first in the history of sorts where someone from the Thackeray family is contesting elections.

According to media reports Maharashtra is slated to hold Assembly elections this October to elect a new 288 member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
