The Janata Dal (United) on Monday lashed out at yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and said people like him have no place in a reputed institute like Jawaharlal Nehru University.

"JNU is a centre of new knowledge, where there is no place of people like Ramdev," JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.

A group of students at JNU in New Delhi has come out against a move by the varsity to invite Ramdev to deliver the keynote address at an event, scheduled on December 30, which is being co-organised by it.

Terming the move a 'silent right-wing onslaught' on JNU, the students have asked university officials to withdraw their invitation to the yoga guru to attend the '22nd International Congress of Vedanta' or face protests.
