The Islamic holy month of Ramzan would begin on Sunday in Saudi Arabia, The Dawn reports.

According to sources, since the crescent was not visible to the naked eye on Friday, beginning of Ramzan was delayed till Sunday.

After talks with the neighbouring countries, investigation and application of related Sharia laws, June 29, Sunday had been decided as the first day of Ramazan, said Dr. Hadef bin Jowan Al Dhahiri, Minister for Justice and Chairman of the UAE Ramzan Moon Sighting committee.

Other countries like Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar have also confirmed that Ramzan would start there on Sunday.

Algeria would also see Sunday as the beginning of the holy month of Ramzan.

However, Yemen authorities have confirmed it would see the first day of Ramzan on Saturday.
