Congress leader Rashid Alvi today criticised the NDA Government for not reacting to the ongoing ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC).

"Pakistan is repeatedly violating ceasefire, but the government is not reacting and is sitting silent with its eyes closed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said they will give an answer, but why are they silent now. They need to understand that it is time to react now, as the country cannot tolerate anymore," said Alvi.

"History is being repeated. When Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to Lahore for friendship (February 1999), then the Kargil War happened and many of our soldiers lost their lives. Now, when Prime Minister Modi called the Pakistan Prime Minister during his swearing-in ceremony (May 2014) and presented him a shawl, this is happening, Pakistan is now making tunnels at our border which is dangerous. The government should take strict action," he added.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar also questioned the government for saying that since Prime Minister Modi has come into power, a lot of changes have taken place, and now, Pakistan will not commit ceasefire violations anymore."

"Even after Prime Minister Modi has come into power, there is no change in Pakistan. The government should take strict action and tell them that this will not be tolerated. If it is true that that a tunnel is being made at the LOC, then the government should give a message that strict action can be taken," said Anwar.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi described the ceasefire violations as very unfortunate.

He said, "Pakistan is not able to understand that whatever they are doing, they will have to pay the price for that. On the one side, they talk about peace, and on the other, they are doing this. The government needs to react. It is frustrating that that country has made an agenda to only fight and not maintain peace. And such countries always get ruined. The government is strongly keeping an eye on it."

Earlier today, a major ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in the R.S Pura sector of Jammu had led to the death of two civilians and injured a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan.

Five members of the same family were injured in the latest ceasefire violation, out of whom the father and son succumbed to their injuries.

The injured persons and the BSF jawan were taken to the Jammu medical college hospital for treatment.

The Pakistani troops reportedly targeted 22 posts of the BSF in the Arnia and R.S Pura sectors of Jammu district, in one of the worst cases of shelling till now.
