Congress leader Rashid Alvi has denounced Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his insensitivity on the issue of women's safety in the state.
Yadav had yesterday snapped at a woman journalist saying 'you don't feel any danger here' when she questioned him about the spate of crimes against women in his state.
Alvi said that Uttar Pradesh had no semblance of law and order and the Chief Minister's remarks only further added to the pain of the people of UP. He also said the administration should take strict steps to control the successive crimes against women.
Besides the two minor Dalit girls who were raped and then left hanging from a tree in their village, another minor girl was also allegedly raped in Azamgarh. The UP government has come under fire from various quarters for being incapable of checking the rising cases of violence against women.
