RCA barred from BCCI meet, threatens legal recourse

The Rajasthan Cricket Association on Monday threatened to take legal action after it was barred from participating in the Board of Control for Cricket in India's annual general meeting, including the election for the body's top posts.

"The right to vote of RCA should have been allowed. The RCA was suspended for a six months period, which expired on November 4, 2014. So our right to vote should have been restored. This right is so sacred that if you see the Supreme Court order, all of N Srinivasan's rights have been taken away but his right to vote remains intact," Mehmood Abdi, the permanent representative of RCA in the BCCI told the media.

Abdi also raised objections against BCCI interim president Shivpal Yadav chairing the AGM.

"My grounds for objecting against Shivpal Yadav chairing the BCCI AGM is that according to the BCCI's own by-laws, in the absence of the president, members present in the AGM would elected somebody from amongst themselves to chair the meeting. That process should have been adopted. This is a violation of the by-laws. These are very simple yet fine points over which we are going to take legal recourse," he said.

However, Abdi welcomed the decision by the body to elect Jagmohan Dalmiya as the BCCI president, terming him an 'experienced cricket administrator'.

"Jagmohan Dalmiya being elected unopposed is a good sign because that means that he has the confidence and support of all the participants in the BCCI. He is a very experienced cricket administrator and we welcome this development," he said.
