Following an assassination attempt on his life in 1981, former President Ronald Reagan started to carry a gun almost everywhere he went, bestselling thriller author Brad Meltzer has revealed.
Meltzer, who came to know about the gun's existence after speaking to a Secret Service employee at the agency's museum, termed it an 'incredible revelation', reported Fox News.
According to the author, Reagan had explained the action by saying that he although trusted the Secret Service people around him, but he wanted to be prepared if someone came at him again.
He carried the gun in his briefcase and even took it on Air Force One, Meltzer said.
