Third seed Rafael Nadal advanced to his first semifinal of the year after recovering from a set down to defeat Jack Sock in the China Open on Friday.

The 14-time Grand Slam champion showed resilience and consistency to claim a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over world number 30 Sock in a thrilling contest that lasted little more than two hours.

Nadal, who has been struggling with form this year, found his range in the second set after losing the first one. The Spaniard then landed a break at 3-all in the decider and sealed the win.
