Rogers considered retirement post getting hit on helmet during second India-Oz Test

After getting struck on the helmet while fielding in the second Test against India in Brisbane, Australian opener Chris Rogers has revealed that he considered retiring from the game.

Rogers was hit at bat pad by a fierce sweep shot from Rohit Sharma in a similar area to where Phillip Hughes received his fatal blow last November during a Sheffield Shield match.

Rogers said that he fielded at short leg on the last day in the Test when Michael Clarke got injured in Adelaide, and added that he took one on the hip there, and didn't do very well with the bat, so he insisted that he wasn't happy with his own form, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Rogers further said that then they went up to Brisbane, and day one he was under there and Sharma swept one and hit him in the back of the helmet, and it's only inches away from where Hughes got hit.

So the opener claimed that one just has different thoughts going through ones head, adding that that night he was pretty upset, so he just wasn't sure which way to go.

Rogers claimed that he had to speak to a few people close to him, adding that it was an interesting time after what happened with Hughes, insisting that there are a lot of guys who are finding it pretty hard. He said that mortality hadn't really been an issue in the game.
