The Rolling Stones, who made their debut at the Glastonbury Festival, have been declared as the 'high spot of 43 years' of the festival by the organizer.
The band started with Jumpin' Jack Flash; tens of thousands of fans cheered on the two-hour set that featured 20 songs, the BBC reported.
Mick Jagger repeatedly thanked the audience and, after 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll (But I Like It),' joked that organizers had finally got round to asking them to play.
The band modified the Pyramid stage with three catwalks, allowing Jagger to bridge the cavernous gap that separates Glastonbury performers from the audience.
Five songs into the set, Jagger also introduced a new song, which was written for a girl "in cut-off jeans" that he claimed to have met at the festival on Friday night.
A country-rock track, it featured the refrain 'Waiting for my Glastonbury girl.
