Sri Lanka's veteran batsman Kumar Sangakkara has reportedly hinted that he might be retiring from ODIs after next year's World Cup, which would be held in Australia and New Zealand.
The former skipper said that the 2015 World Cup might be his last assignment in that form of the game, and looking at Test cricket, there might be another series left in him.
Sangakkara, who has already quit T20 Internationals after helping his side to victory against India in the ICC World Twenty20 final last month, said that his decision to quit ODIs depends on the chat he would have with the selectors and authorities back home, the Dawn reported.
Sangakkara said that he would be 37 at the end of this year, adding that he is fully aware that it is fast-approaching the time when either one leaves, or one is asked to leave.
Sangakkara, who has been one of Sri Lanka's greatest cricketing icons for over a decade, said that he still relished playing for his country and expressed his gratefulness for the opportunities he got through his career.
The left-handed batsman said that there is still a huge enjoyment factor that comes with playing, adding that as players, they have been very, very lucky, because cricket is a high-paid job that allows one to travel the world and earn a living playing outdoors.
