Saudi Arabia is reportedly set to press Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to increase the number of Pakistani troops in the kingdom to fight the Islamic State (IS) that has taken over large swathes of Iraq and Syria.

According to the Express Tribune, Mahmoud Durrani, a former national security adviser to Sharif said that there is uncertainty in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia indulges in dealing with the wider IS threat.

He said that Pakistan should be careful in getting involved in a relationship with Saudi Arabia which could expose them to controversies.

A western diplomat said that the Saudis are focused at increasing their security and that Pakistan is of great interest to them with its history of services of the Kingdom.
