Second complaint against Kejriwal rejected, Congress to appeal in HC

The Election Commission on Thursday rejected another complaint filed by the Congress party against Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, following which the grand old party stated that it will appeal in the Delhi High Court against the same.

"An issue was brought to our notice, according to which Kejriwal has not mentioned an FIR lodged against him in his affidavit as part of his nomination papers. This is concealment of facts and serious information. This FIR is under IPC Section 153, which is a serious offence," Congress leader Kiran Walia told the media.

"The second issue that we had was that he states that he lives in the BK Dutt Colony, whereas he is a resident of Ghaziabad. If he is indeed a resident of the BK Dutt Colony, then it is illegal because that is a government colony and sub-letting is not allowed. If he lives in the private sector of the area, then he must show the rent agreement for the same," she added.

Although rejected by the Election Commission, Walia stated that her party will appeal in the High Court and plead that Kejriwal's nomination for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections is cancelled.

"His nomination has yet not been cancelled and thus we will appeal in the High Court. We will also protest against this," she said.

Earlier this week, the Congress had made a formal complaint against Kejriwal with the Election Committee over the AAP chief's 'bribe' remarks, where the former Delhi chief minister urged the citizens of the city to accept money offered by the grand old party and the Bharatiya Janata Party, but to vote for him.
