In two separate operations, security forces on Sunday arrested 16 militants and linkmen of various banned outfits from Assam.
In the first incident, the forces arrested 14 militants and linkmen of the Rabha National Liberation Front from the Goalpara district. As per reports, the militants are suspected to be involved in the planting of a bomb on a railway track in the district on earlier this week.
The second incident was a joint operation by the army and the state police arrest two National Democratic Front of Bodoland- Songbijit (NDFB-S) militants from the Kokrajhar district.
A vast quantity of arms and ammunition has also been seized by the security forces.
