Top seeded Serena Williams, who was facing her elder sister in a Grand slam match for the first time in six years, defeated Venus Williams to reach the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon Championships.
The world number one required one hour and eight minutes to beat Venus 6-4 6-3 on the Centre Court.
Serena, who is two years younger than her sister, has now won 15 of the American siblings' 26 professional contests.
Jubilant with the victory, Serena said that it was never easy to play someone whom she loved and care about, adding that she just played for the competition and to enjoy the moment, the BBC reported.
In the other match, fourth seeded Maria Sharapova defeated Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-4 to enter the last eight.
