Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is fast tracking all infrastructure-related operations linked to the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to meet the end-2017 deadline.
An Express Tribune report said that Sharif's CPEC-related order came after a meeting where he discussed the progress on Mughalkot-DI Khan Road, the Gwadar East Bay Expressway and various other road projects in Balochistan.
Pakistan and China had finalised deals worth USD 46 billion for infrastructure and energy projects under the corridor from Gwadar in Balochistan to Kashgar in China earlier this year.
Sharif has said he believes the CPEC will be a game changer for the region.
