Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to fly to the United Kingdom on July 20 to attend the first Girl Summit that aims to improve condition of women in poor countries.
The UK government and UNICEF would host the summit whereby the meeting will discuss issues like forced marriages of girls, violence against women, women education and employment and inheritance rights of women.
The Bangladesh Prime Minister has received the invitation from the UK Prime Minister David Cameron for the Girl Summit that is scheduled for July 22, reports the Daily Star.
The invitation holds importance since the Western governments were earlier critical of the Bangladesh general election.
The Girl Summit will aim to safeguard new commitments from faith leaders, civil society organizations, private sector and other governments and organizations.
